Mercedes Flexible Service System
If your Mercedes was a model year 1998 or later, you have what is called a Mercedes Benz Flexible Service System or FSS. The Flexible Service System is scheduled by mileage and you will usually receive a warning on the dash stating to visit a workshop for a Service A, B, C or other. Usually the first service you ever had to have performed for your Mercedes Benz was a Service A which are generally every 10,000 miles and alternate with a Service B. So for instance your first Service A would be performed at 10,000 miles and at 20,000 miles you would have had a Service B performed.
The Flexible Service System has the advantage in that it truly is “flexible”. There are many factors which would make certain maintenance and service items more necessary at a shorter time or mileage interval. Such things as driving in a dusty or dirty environment, heavy stop and go or city driving, driving on rougher roads, and extreme hot and cold environments. To keep your Mercedes Benz running like the fine german engineered machine it is, maintenance and service is important.
The good news is that you do not have to go to the dealer for your service.
