The Flexible Service System is scheduled by mileage and you will usually receive a warning on the dash stating to visit a workshop for a Service A, B, C or other. Usually the first service you ever had to have performed for your Mercedes Benz was a Service A which are generally every 10,000 miles and alternate with a Service B. So for instance your first Service A would be performed at 10,000 miles and at 20,000 miles you would have had a Service B performed.
